Movement & Mindfulness May

By: Gillian Bovard, Event Operations Manager | 05/08/2020

We know that this has been an incredibly stressful time for so many people in our community. We’ve teamed up with some amazing folks this month to bring you some free mindfulness and movement classes to help you recenter and reconnect with yourself.

These classes will be streamed directly through our facebook and instagram pages so that you can remain connected to the garden even if you are not able to be here, so make sure and follow us!

These classes are not being offered in-person for the health & safety of the instructors and in order to comply with social-distancing recommendations.

Tips for how to best enjoy Mindfulness & Movement Classes

• Find a quiet spot in your house or outside
• Set up your phone or laptop somewhere you can easily see the instructor
• Roll out your yoga mat (a towel or blanket will work just fine!)
• Consider playing some music softly in the background – check out these Spotify playlists for good yoga jams
• Don’t forget your water bottle!

ACHD is encouraging people to cycle, walk or take public transit during the month of May. Consider commuting by bike, walking to work, or taking public transit when possible. The greenbelt is a beautiful way to get to the Garden.

Check out this map for directions on how to get the Idaho Botanical Garden by way of the Greenbelt:

Some recommendations on how to safely participate in Boise Bike Week:

Ride alone, or only with people you’re quarantined with. Stay aware and maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet from others you pass on the road. Avoid following closely behind other riders. Do not go on any organized group rides. You can still log your miles on Share the Ride here.

Ride the Bus for free! Valley Regional Transit is not collecting fares.
Check out what they are doing to keep you safe here.

Boise Green Bike is offering unlimited one-hour rides for the next two weeks! They clean and disinfect the bikes on a regular schedule.
