Land Art Exhibit – March 16 through April 30
Sunday, April 21st 2019 • 9:00am - 7:00pm
The Idaho Botanical Garden presents an art opening for a major new site‐specific Land Art Exhibit at the Garden on Saturday, March 16, from 2‐4 p.m. This is a free event.
This exciting exhibit will showcase 10 ephemeral works using natural materials by local artists: Elizabeth Dickey, Alek de Dóchas, Dyan Ferren, Michele Lesica, Jennifer Mahlum, Helen McGill, Lisa Pisano, Claire Remsberg, Heather Wright, and Ace Zappa. Artists will be present to discuss their work.
This is the Idaho Botanical Garden’s first ever Land Art Exhibit and will feature works using natural materials such as clay, leaves, seeds, stones, wood, and wool. These pieces challenge artists to think about creating art that does not permanently occupy a space. Due to the nature of these natural art pieces, the display will decay and decompose over time.
The exhibit will be on display at the Idaho Botanical Garden, March 16 through April 30, during regular Garden hours. The public is encouraged to visit the Garden and experience each of the unique creations.
“The Garden serves as an outdoor art gallery, and we exhibit many sculptures on the Garden grounds. We are thrilled to bring these works to the Garden!” said Erin Anderson, Executive Director.
The Idaho Botanical Garden provides a full garden experience for all ages that enhances community quality of life through plant
collections, education programs, and entertainment, cultural and community events.
“We grow our community by connecting people, plants and nature,” Erin said. “I look forward to seeing our guest gather in the Garden in March!”
