Fruit Tree Growing for Idaho Homeowners

A two-part class. Tuesday, October 1 (Part I) & Thursday, October 3 (Part II) at 6:30 p.m. If you register for one, you are set for both!

Bob will discuss planning a home orchard, soil fertility and water management, propagation and planting of trees, and general topics pertaining to all fruit trees (life cycles and growth habit, pollination and fruit set, thinning, identifying and controlling insects and diseases, and vertebrate pest control).  He will also cover fruit varieties and rootstocks; special requirements, management, and pruning of apple, pear, cherry, plum, apricot, and peach trees as well as sources of nursery stock, soil amendments and much else.  The purpose of the course is to enable homeowners to choose the right fruit cultivars for their situation, be able to manage them, and to have success in getting their trees to bear.  Bob will offer a tour of his orchard as a follow-up to the class, for those who are interested.
