Flora of the Owyhee Region

Thursday, October 28th 2021 • 6:30pm - 7:30pm

Flora of the Owyhee Region
Dr. Don Mansfield, Professor Emeritus at College of Idaho, Curator Emeritus, Harold M. Tucker Herbarium

🌿🌿🌿

The greater Owyhee region of southwestern Idaho, southeastern Oregon, and northern Nevada is drained by the Owyhee, Bruneau, and Jarbidge Rivers as well as many smaller creeks flowing into the Snake River.  Habitats are as diverse as alpine meadows to salt desert scrub and lava flows to streams, lakes and marshes.  The region is home to over 1500 species of plants, many of which are common throughout southern Idaho, but some are found only in the Owyhee area.  This talk will present highlights of the Owyhee region’s flora and progress underway towards a book on the region.
