Nature Camp

Nature Camp is a morning science program designed for children ages 4-9 to participate in games, crafts and nature walks at the Idaho Botanical Garden.

Each class meets Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – noon. The campers are divided into two classes by age. Each class is limited to 20 children and is supervised by an adult teacher and two aides.

July 10-14 Classes: Ages 5 & 6, 7-9

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to be a mountain lion? Did you know that animals must hide and seek in order to survive? Learn about Idaho wild animal creature powers such as camouflage, poison, air tanks, and eyes that squirt blood.

July 17-21 Classes: Ages 5 & 6, 7-9
Nature is full of wonders. Get ready to explore the world with the eyes of a scientist. Investigate carnivorous plants, gooey obleck, how water striders walk on water, and other things that make our planet a fascinating place to live.

July 24 – 28 Classes: Ages 4, 5 & 6

This week focuses on winged wonders and the plants they call food and home. Use nets to capture insects, hold a wild bird’s nest, and learn how living things fly.

July 31- August 4 Classes: Ages 5 & 6, 7-9
Everyone loves a great story! There is no better place to spin a yarn than in the shade of a tree. Campers will hear some great tales and create some stories of their own. We will learn how to attract fairies to a garden and then make a fairy habitat to take home. Crafts, hands-on activities, games and more will match the biology-related themes set by the stories we tell.

August 7-11 Classes: Ages 4, 5 & 6

See how human and animal food comes from dirt. Dig in the dirt, plant seeds, harvest vegetables, sing songs, and meet an earthworm.


Camp Fees:

Members: $65 per camp
Non Members: $90 per camp

Due to high demand, each child may register for no more than two sessions.

Please note that camps are specific to the age ranges listed. Ages younger or older than the camp chosen are not recommended. All age requirements are set to benefit the children and make instruction more consistent. Please contact Wendy at 275-8612 with questions.

• Once on the Nature Camp registration page, sign in/register, choose the camp session, and enter the child’s registration information. Enter the guardian’s information under billing contact. Add the camp registration to the cart. Garden members will show the discount during check out.

Payment is refundable up to two weeks prior to the first day of camp class, minus a $10 processing fee.

What to Bring

Children should bring a snack each day; wear closed-toed shoes and sunscreen.

Following registration, please fill out this Medical Form and bring back to camp first day. If you do not, there will be paper work to fill out when you arrive.
