Idaho Botanical Garden
Go on this self-guided tour to glean ideas on how to raise your own food using varieties and techniques best suited for the Treasure Valley. Five home gardens will demonstrate how to grow produce using a range of methods and watering techniques. Both fruits and vegetables are on display. You will see raised beds and in the ground beds, drip irrigation systems, herb gardens, vertical gardening, fruit espalier, companion plantings, yard art and chickens.
In addition, at four of the homes you will learn about food preservation techniques, with an emphasis on dehydrating and canning, with demonstrations and information provided by the home owners and the University of Idaho Extension Food Safety Advisors program.
