Each June, children are taught about biology through games, walks and crafts. Three different biology subjects are offered and groups may register for one, two or all three topics.

June 8-10: “Get in Touch with Trees” – We will use our sense of touch to experience the Garden. This lesson with include a texture walk, bark rubbings and go on a “Bear Hunt”.
June 15-17: “Taking a Look” – We will use our sense of sight to experience the Garden. In this lesson we will make binoculars before going on a walk around the different Garden levels and exploring from different heights and even seeing what the animals of the Garden might be seeing.
June 22-24: “Garden Symphony” – We will use our hearing sense to experience the Garden. During this lesson we will make tools to help us notice the multiple sound of wildlife and nature sounds that can be heard in the Garden and create our own Nature Orchestra using bodies.
The fee is $2 per child. Accompanying adults are required to stay with their groups to supervise and offer assistance.
Please contact the Garden at 208-343-8649 to register or to be added to the Nature Detectives mailing list.
Program times are 9:30 a.m. & 11 a.m. Choose a time and day then call the Garden at 343-8649 to make a reservation. Other groups may be attending along with yours, so it is important for all groups to arrive on time. We will take reservations for a session until we reach a total of 36 children; some sessions may not reach capacity.
After an introductory activity, the children will be divided into two groups for the remainder of the program. When possible your group will be kept together. We ask that your group’s adults stay with the children and assist during the lesson.
