The Idaho Botanical Garden is adorned in colors of gold, yellow, and orange. Join us as the evenings become cooler and the leaves begin to fall. Grab your Garden map and go on a Scarecrow Safari throughout the Garden. Animal themed scarecrows, such as the Rat King or the Three Little Pigs will be peeking around corners. Have you ever wanted to see a pumpkins fly? Join us for the 2013 Fall Harvest Festival and test that theory with the Discovery Center of Idaho and the pumpkin trebuchet! Monday, September 16 – October 18, 2013.
Open daily 9:00 am until dusk. Free with regular garden admission. Garden admission prices: Free to Garden Members, $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and youth between 5-12 years old, Free for children 4 and younger. Bring the family and go on a Scarecrow Safari for the Sixth Annual Scarecrow Stroll. Scarecrows themed after animals, such as the Rat King or the Three Little Pigs will be peeking around the trees and shrubs throughout the Garden. Fall Harvest Festival
Saturday and Sunday, October 5 -6, 2013. Noon – 6:00 pm
$3 Garden Members, $6 for adults, $3 youth between 5-12 years old, Free for children 4 and younger. Join us for a weekend celebration of fall in Idaho. New this year, the Discovery Center of Idaho will test the laws of physics with their pumpkin trebuchet. Enjoy an artful display of Idaho produce and a pumpkin house which will create the perfect photo opportunity for family and friends. Stroll the creative Scarecrow display; enjoy live music from local artists including Hillfolk Noir and Blaze and Kelly. Celebrate fall with hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and other family friendly activities. Shop the farmers market with a variety of local food and art vendors. Don’t forget to enjoy a fall brew or glass of wine with Payette Brewing, Crooked Fence Brewing, Highland Hollows Brewing, Indian Creek Winery, Fraser Vineyards, or Cellar 616.

Continuing Education Class: Dirty Deeds

$10 for Garden Members, $15 for Non-Members. Dirty Deeds will explore how home owners can improve difficult soil conditions found in Idaho. Learn about top dressing, soil amendments, and how to work around truly poor soils. Soil composition, PH, micro/macro organisms, irrigation, drainage features, aeration, and amendments will be covered in this 2 hour class. Learn what you can do to get the most out of your soil, how you can improve your soil’s tilth and health, and how selecting the proper plant for the proper place can add to the success of your landscaping.
